    The BASD Health & Physical Education department team teaches lifelong student wellness that includes physical activity and promotes a lifestyle that values social, emotional, and mental health.

    BASD Health and Physical Education instruction is delivered based upon the Pennsylvania Department of Education Academic Standards for Health, Safety, and Physical Education.

    Elementary Health and Physical Education focuses on the development of foundational skills, performing grade level skills individually, and applying skills within team settings. Students learn locomotor movements, safety, proper technique with sports and fitness equipment, game rules, and how to regulate emotions and practice teamwork during game play. Additionally, students learn health topics that include 

    Middle-level Health Physical Education continues to build on foundational skills while introducing new physical activities and health topics specific to adolescent health and development. 

    At the high school level, students are required to meet Health and Physical Education requirements necessary for graduation. Additionally, students have the option to engage in several different elective courses outlined in the BASD Program of Studies.
